About Marseille

Marseille is the capital of the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region and the oldest city in France with 2,600 years of history. It is known for its authentic art of living. The city was completely transformed a few years ago when 660 Million Euros were invested in urban projects. In 2014 Marseille won “Urbanism Awards”. The city offers more than 9,225 hotel rooms and is famous for its unique natural park – Les Calanques.

From a scientific standpoint, Marseille has the largest French-speaking University. Aix-Marseille University has nearly 75,000 students including 10,000 international students, 7,680 faculty and staff members, 12 doctoral schools, and nearly 3,650 Ph.D. students. It is home to 130 research facilities – 117 research units and 13 federative research structures – linked to France’s biggest research institutions like CNRS, INSERM, IRD, INRA, and CEA.
